A great poet once said, “Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams,
let it wash away my sanity—'cause I want to feel the thunder, I wanna scream.
Let the rain fall down, I'm coming clean. I'm coming clean, oh.” (Hilary Duff; 2003)
Hilary and doves (name a more iconic trio) have the right attitude about rain. Today’s headline taught me that doves sit in the rain basically to take a bath (that’s why it’s called a rain SHOWER, idiots!!!) Nothing all that meaningful or poetic UNLESS YOU ARE MY TWISTED, TENDER BRAIN.
I’ve been in Pretty Major Pain recovering from having all of my wisdom teeth removed (at such a young age, no less!!!) and I’ve been feeling sorry for myself but then also grateful for all the people in my life who have stepped in to help me. Sounds minor but take that up with the doves, bruv!!!
Anyway, I wrote a poem about it because that’s my JOB, GUYS!!
Also the book is out in 12 days and that feels like a rainstorm in its own way (sweating, crying). ILY thank you for being one of my doves that stands in the rain (book promotion) with me !!!
Here’s the ditty!
Did you know they’re called mourning doves because they’re so sad that they didn’t PREORDER A BIT MUCH? Crazy!

I think Hilary Duff is a gateway drug into poetry tbh
Hillary Duff is basically Ada Limon, thank you for helping me see this
