Female Frogs Fake Their Own Death to Avoid Unwanted Attention From Males, Study Finds

A new old headline poem about *jumping* to conclusions lol get it

G’day ladies and frogs, this week we are revisiting a truly dazzling headline from days of yore (AKA i posted it in stories a few months ago) because as it turns out, female dragonflies ALSO fake their own deaths to avoid unwanted suitors. Pop off, animal queendom, amirite? (H8 myself for ‘animal queendom’ but i am who I am!!!!)

I was going to rewrite the frog poem and replace “leap” with a dragonfly-esque reference because most of the rest worked perfectly, but then Dawson woke up early from a nap and here we are. Also, I don’t know a lot about dragonflies. Ce’st la vie.

Speaking of French, my line here is in reference to a French expression for orgasm that translates to “the little death,”—which I thought was perfectly appropriate here (full little google definition below). Also please note my purposeful line break to separate “coming” and “home,” for a little innuendo moment 😎.

I see in my drafts that I also toyed with this ending:

“She’s the only one who can make herself come

home to safety”

La petite mort (French pronunciation: [la pətit mɔʁ]; "the little death") is an expression that means "the brief loss or weakening of consciousness" and in modern usage refers specifically to "the sensation of post orgasm as likened to death."
